On Wednesday 22nd June, the 6th Class girls celebrated the end of their time at Primary School with a Graduation ceremony.

Parents and family attended, along with Mons. Ryan, teachers and pupils from 1st to 5th class.

5th Class helped with decoration and preparation duties outdoors on the day, as well as doing tremendous artwork and singing!

Mrs Kenny's 3rd and 4th Class gave a surprise performance of Reach for the Stars, which was a lovely sentiment for 6th Class to hear.

Refreshments which had been made and prepared by 6th class pupils that morning, were enjoyed by guests afterwards.

Thank you to Mrs Jacob for such kind words for the 6th class girls.

Thank you to all the other teachers who helped with refreshments, and many other tasks on the day.

The girls chose the theme of Under the Sea for the ceremony, and they incorporated this into their artwork. 3rd and 4th class made a giant diorama which ties in with this very theme and they kindly displayed their amazing work to complement the ceremony!

The 6th class girls felt that Under the Sea is a fitting theme, as Under the Sea is a place of mystery, a great variety of colour. The sea ebbs and flows. It can be a place of fun but also of uncertainty. This links with their thoughts and expectations of the future - making the transition to secondary school is like diving into the unknown.

The 6th Class girls have been excellent role-models to the younger pupils, and have participated in a multitude of school activities through their eight year stint at Presentation Castlecomer. We will miss them very much, and we wish them the very best in their secondary school lives, and beyond.

In the last few days of the summer term, Mrs Jacob had lined up a big surprise for all pupils....an ice-cream van, delivering treats to everyone!

As you can see from the photos, the dynamic duo of Ms Tyrrell and Ms Bryan were on standby to ensure that all pupils got their ice-cream!

Also, you may spot the 1st Class boys in the gym. It is time for these boys to make the move to the Boys' School, into 2nd Class. We all wish the boys the very best for the future. They have contributed so much to their class, brought fun and games to the playground each day, they worked hard and were mannerly and pleasant. The boys received a football, which was signed by their classmates.

Slán go fóil agus go n-éirí libh go léir!

A second surprise was the appearance of some of Kilkenny's victorious U -20s hurling team! Mrs Jacob announced that a Black and Amber day would take place. The bunting was flying high, the pupils were clad in the Kilkenny colours. The scene was set to welcome Pádraic, Killian, Paddy and Harry. The players brought along the Nowlan Cup which they won in Semple Stadium in May. Pupils got autographs, asked some well-thought out questions and the 6th class girls got their Graduation books signed, too.

Sports Day took place on June 17th, at Ballycomey. Pupils took part in activities including obstacle course, novelty races, distance races, ball games, co-operative games, and even a little croquet and bowling!

The weather was fine, it was a lovely day for all to be out of the classroom, playing together!

GAA coach Cora Delaney, joined us all after lunch, to run some games stations.

Well done to all the boys and girls for taking part with great enthusiasm and thank you to all parents and guardians for having them prepared for the day!
