Another Maths Week has come and gone. We always look forward to this time of year, and collaborating with one another, with other classes to solve problems and see things through our Maths Eyes.

While some of the older classes have yet to complete their own maths trails, the younger class groups had fun estimating, measuring, counting and taking note of mathematical elements they could find outside.

Mrs Jacob has set problems for classes upstairs, and everyone is encouraged to enter their answers daily.

Winners will be announced next week!

Thanks to the fantastic library services in Kilkenny and to the Bookville festival, our classes could take part in online events as part of this festival, as well as attend in-person readings and workshops.

Junior classes enjoyed some readings with Karyn from Castlecomer library.

3rd and 4th class had a really engaging session online with Kilkenny author Ann Murtagh, who writes historical fiction. Ann told the class all about how she researches for her books, and read from her latest book, The Climbing Boys.

The pupils from 3rd to 6th classes attended workshops in the library, with the amazing author Caroline Busher.

Caroline led the pupils in some writing exercises, introduced them to some of her books such as The Boy Who Slipped Through Time.

The girls from Ms Tyrrell's class enjoyed six weeks of cycling lessons. With Jason and Jim of Cycle Right, they learned about cycling safely on the road, taking care of their bikes, signals, rules of the road. Their lessons took place in the playground and even ventured onto the road, past the church and into Marymount.

Well done to the girls and many thanks to Jason and Jim for providing the lessons.
