Once agian, our school community helped out with the Christmas Shoebox Challenge.

2nd, 3rd and 4th Class brought the boxes into the library, from where they were collected, and taken to the depot in Kilkenny.

Our shoeboxes will be distributed to children in Eastern Europe and in Africa.

Many thanks to all of the families who helped with this initiative this year.

Our school motto is Together, We Bring the Light.

This is what everyone in school did on 21st November, the Feast of the Presentation.

All of the pupils and staff, and some special guests, got together in the gym for a special assembly.

This assembly celebrated in song, story and in prayer, our Presentation roots!

We remembered Nano Nagle, who founded the Presentation Sisters in 1775.

Presentation sisters first came to Castlecomer in 1829.

5th and 6th class put on a special production of the Nano Nagle play, which they wrote last year.

Pupils from 1st class brought special symbols and gifts, and led us all in prayer for all of our school community and our families.

It was a great celebration.

See pictures of some of the lanterns made in honour of Nano, also known as The Lady of the Lantern.

Top Irish swimmer, Maria Godden visited the school in November. She is from Kilkenny and has been training with Kilkenny Swimming Club since she was in priamry school. She trains in Limerick now, along with Olympians. When Maria visited us, she was just about to leave for the European Championships, taking place in Romania.

Maria's specialist event is the backstroke.

Maria answered lots of questions from pupils in the gym, and showed a video of her racing. She told us all about her medals, her training and how she keeps healthy.

We wish Maria the best of luck in the European Championships, and next year, in the World Championships in Doha, Qatar, where she will represent Ireland.
