Senior Tour to Kilkenny

On May 27th, 3rd to 6th class headed for Kilkenny, where they first visited the Castle, before taking an informative and most entertaining tour round the Marble City with Kilkenny City Tours. The girls rounded off the outing at Pococke Foot Golf.

Here are some photos of the girls enjoying their nature trail in the park before going for their guided tour in the Castle.

Luckily, the sun shone throughout the day - we all had lunch in the park, before heading for the playground!

Paul, the train driver and guide with Kilkenny City tours, played some traditional tunes for all on board to enjoy. Sites that we took in were the Black Abbey, Rothe House, St. Canice's Cathedral, the walls of Kilkenny, St. Mary's Cathedral, the river Nore, Carnegie Library and of course, the Castle.

Thankfully, the Pococke's freezer was well stocked with ice-creams, and its chocolate bars were chilling in the fridge, awaiting Pres Comer's arrival! The treats from the tuck shop were well earned, after the girls had played a few holes of foot golf on such a warm afternoon,

We hope the 6th class girls made good memories to bring with them to secondary school, and the teachers were delighted to have such a fun-loving and well-behaved group on tour.

Tour guide Maggie expertly led our group throughout the Castle, and was most accommodating in answering all questions from such an interested bunch of pupils.
